AOL has slowed to a crawl, or, anyway, its news site has, operating at something like .000001 teakettle units per geological eon. HuffPo is caught in that crawl, too. LiveJournal is behaving well, as is Youtube. So what's responsible for AOL's poor performance? Anybody know?

Since yesterday afternoon I haven't been able to access any websites through AOL, and their Welcome screen has remained absolutely blank. Anybody know what's going on with them? I got about a zillion different answers from the techs, most of whom are clueless and the rest may be covering something up.

According to the article, they laid off 20% of their staff 2 days ago, and made a number of other drastic changes. That has to have something to do with it!

Okay, I'm accessing LiveJournal via aol.com, which is working again. This is really maddening -- why is this happening with AOL?

This is the second time AOL has suddenly stopped cooperating at all with anything I've tried to do. I really don't know why. I can't access any websites from AOL -- including their own live tech support or even their Welcome screen, and when I try calling for tech support, nobody's home.
